In the 1800's the Germans used a version of the game for educational purposes, as a teaching card for math, history, and spelling.

In the 1900's in America, a carnival game called Beano became popular. Beans, lima or other, were used to cover the numbers on the cards.

In the 1930's the Catholic Church began using Bingo in fundraising endeavors, for Church funds.

Originally only men were allowed to play Bingo. Today over 3 million play online and off Bingo on a regular basis, with the majority being women. Online Bingo is continuing to grow in popularity, and the world still loves Bingo.
